Mugabe Approach To Dabengwa On Vice President Post Causes Havoc In ZANU PF

Image
Mugabe at the burial of Vice President Joseph Msika: the president's reluctance to appoint John Nkomo to the post of VP, which led to him considering Dumiso Dabengwa for the post, is now very apparent within ZANU PF, which has led to a free-for-all, with all sorts of jokers throwing their names into the ring in the hope of catching Mugabe's eye. There is only one other name Mugabe has mentioned besides Dabengwa's as a possible candidate. The rest are simply trying their luck, knowing that they will not be penalised for challenging Nkomo. Harare, Zimbabwe, 30 October 2009 When we broke the story about Mugabe's approach to Dumiso Dabengwa to consider the Vice-presidential post made vacant by the death of Joseph Msika, we also revealed that the Zimbabwean president was not too keen on John Nkomo, who should rightly take over the post as the most senior remaining ZAPU leader within the ZANU PF structures. Other members of ZAPU who have remained in ZANU PF have been embolden...

Zimbabwe Vice-Presidential Nominations Turn Chaotic

Image
"Oh my head!" - Robert "The Solution" Mugabe is being given a headache by the process of selecting one of his vice-presidents. The Matabeleland provinces, who had been asked to nominate a candidate from within the former PF ZAPU structures have now refused to do so and instead say the process should be a national one and not a tribal one. Harare, Zimbabwe, 15 October 2009 Nominations for a person to replace the late Vice President Joseph Msika have turned chaotic, with the ZANU PF provinces in Matabeleland failing to agree amongst themselves on a candidate. As a result of this, the Matabeleland region has now asked the ZANU PF Politburo to ask all ten provinces in Zimbabwe to nominate someone to replace Msika. The Politburo of Mugabe's party had only asked its Matabeleland structures to nominate someone to replace the VP. Sikhanyiso Ndlovu, the useless former minister of information and publicity and a Politburo member told reporters: "Yes, we did meet as B...

Jonathan Moyo and ZANU PF: Why Now?

Image
Professor Jonathan Moyo campaigning in Tsholotsho in March last year. We met up with him at the Growth Point in the area as Simba Makoni addressed a gathering there. It was clear that Moyo was going through the constituency with a fine tooth comb, traversing it in a Landcruiser and going to every hamlet and village. Makoni carried Tsholotsho and Moyo was also reelected. Many people still fail to see the deeper meaning of his move to return to ZANU PF. Harare, Zimbabwe, 18 September 2009 It is now confirmed that Jonathan Moyo has applied to go back to ZANU PF. He will be readmitted, since every single ZANU PF minister, from Didymus Mutasa to Patrick Chinamasa, are all singing his praises. But why is the Professor seeking to go back now? This is a question I have been asked in emails to me the last few days and the answer is simple enough. Professor Jonathan Moyo's ouster from ZANU PF was engineered by none other than the late Vice-president Joseph Msika, who labeled the then Ministe...
